Cellist

Pere Joan Carrascosa studied in Barcelona with Marçal Cervera and at the Universität der Künste (UdK) in Berlin under the tutelage of Prof. Catalin Ilea and Eckart Runge (Artemis Quartet) and received further impulses from Frans Helmersson, Christophe Coin, Philippe Müller and Maria Kliegel.

He has been awarded with several prizes including the First Prize of the “Hanns Eisler Composers Forum and Hanns Eisler Performance Prize” in 2006, First Prize in the I Chamber Music Competition of Valencia in 2011 and prizewinner at the INJUVE Competition (Ministry of Culture) with Proyecto Brunetti in 2013, among others. Collaborations with different orchestras under the baton of conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Sir Simon Rattle, Nikolaus Harnouncourt and Günter Schüller.

As a soloist and member of various chamber groups he has made concerts and tours throughout Europe and Asia and has given master classes in countries like Portugal, Finland, Germany and Italy. He collaborates as editor for Kunzelmann Edition and has recorded Leonardo Balada’s chamber works for the first time for the label Naxos. He is the artistic director and founder member of the Ares Maestrat Music Festival and the “775” Music Festival of Vilafranca. Nowadays he teaches at the Conservatorio Superior de Alicante.
